Financing our Future: Philanthropy’s role in climate action

1 trillion dollars, close to half of India’s GDP: the number set forward by PM Modi to enable ambitious domestic climate action. The overwhelming scale of the problem, as well as the solutions, made finance a pivotal part of negotiations at the recent COP26. While most conversations focused on the transfer of wealth from developed to developing nations, significant contributions by non-state actors – including the private and philanthropic sectors – missed out on the spotlight.
